Panama is a genuine melting pot of cultures from ancient Spain to modern America, with places like Panama Viejo, the first city founded in the isthmus by Spanish conquistadors and sacked by Pirate Morgan in 1671. Casco Viejo, the second colonial city of Panama, built in 1673, features French, Italian and Spanish architecture.
